For legering you will usually be able to manage with a shorter rod than needed for float fishing, and I would suggest a rod of between 8.5 feet (2.6 meters) and 10 feet (3 metres) with a range of push in quivertips.
Suitable rods will be described as ‘Leger Rods’, Quivertip rods’ or ‘Tip rods’ and one costing between £15 and £20 should be suitable for a wide range of leger fishing situations.

Very good rods of both ‘Carbon’ and ‘Carbon Composite’ material are available at reasonable prices but. leger rods are not held for long periods of time, so a ‘Fibreglass’ or ‘Glass’ rod whilst being heavier, will be fine if your budget is restricted.
